Hi, new to the forum and learning to play so will be posting a few topics to get some answers, all help appreciated.........FIRST, I noticed on the site an ad for GSM - guitar scales method, a program to learn scales etc. It looks interesting but wondered if anyone had used it and what they thought? Was also considering getting one of those guitar ports but i have a suspicion it may be crap?

Hi. No idea about the GSM method but you shouldn't have to pay to learn your scales. There are loads of free sites that can teach you. For a beginner the only scales you will really need are

The Pentatonic

The Major Scale (Once you know the fingering for this you can start learning about modes)

I have loads of free scale lessons

Try this for a cool jazz scale

Haven't got a guitar port but Line 6 make really good stuff. The pod is amazing even for advanced players. :D
