Ibanez GRG-170 DX BK (advice)

Greetings!

I was wondering if you consider a Ibanez - GRG-170 DX BK adequate for someone with a low budget and wanting to play "heavier" styles, such as metal, nu-metal, industrial metal, punk...

I've been told that if the guitar has a Humbucker pickup then it is good for these styles, is that true?

I'm new to the electric guitar, so please don't get too technical.

Thanks in advance.

yes (hope that wasn't to technical :P ). most IBANEZ guitars even the low end ones are geared toward metal styles. don't expect it to have a monster sound as the pick-ups won't be the best but will perform just fine for the beginner. i have an RX40 which is a real cheapo i keep in the living room for noodling on while watching tv. it sounds decent with a small practice amp. now i will highly suggest that when you get your guitar you get it set up properly. try to find someone that can adjust your whammy bar so it doesn't go out of tune as soon as you use it. this may result in not being able to pull up on it at all but thats a small sacrifice for tuning stability. i had this done with mine and it stays in tune amazingly well. you can always put better pick up in latter. good luck and enjoy.
and now for something completely different

I agree but Also Look at the brand ESP. They're good as well.

But people that "made" nu-metal use ibanez's
