ok there is a lesson here don't buy something becasue it looks cool do a little homework on what an effect does and ALWAYS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY. (sorry the teacher in me had to say that). now what do you mean by messy? wha-whas take time to learn as they are interactive. it may take a few days of just messin around to get a handle on it (this is true of any effect) the wha changes your tone rapidly or slowly depending on how fast you push up and down on the pedal. the pedal should be placed at the beginning of your pedal chain (some will recommend using after an overdrive or distortion pedal). many great guitar players use a wha (hendrix, slash, michael schenker) and its a good place to start for beginners as you really can't do anything that will sound horrible with it. |
| and now for something completely different | |

To make it sound less messy - try and use it at important parts to make it sound more distinctive instead of trying to drench every note in wah-wah which a lot, including me, started off doing when we purchase one. Like monwobobbo said, practice makes perfect so get used to it first trying to adapt it to your playing style. |
