Hi, i'm Debbie, just thought i'd come here and introduce myself. I am new to the whole thing, just started learning electric. Very bad at it, can't get over the stiff little finger (sic). I will do a proper profile when I have a little more time, but here's a quick list... Guitars - Squier Strat b+w, Fender Princeton 650, Park practice amp, Wesley (cracked but ok for learning). Have a Behringer amp for sale also. pm me if you're interested! Edited by debs_fswm, Aug 7 2008, 11:41 AM.

Hey Debbie. It's nice to see some more females getting into the whole guitar scene; it needs to have some more! Stick around and browse the forums at you leisure. Obey the rules of the forum and you'll fit in perfectly. If you have any questions then you're more than welcome to search topics or ask any of the members including me, we're all willing to help you on the way. Have fun! |

I may have been practising a little too hard, I seem to have pulled a muscle in the base of my thumb - it went twang and is swollen... ouch Is there a finger exercise or something I can do to loosen up? (clean replies please )

Welcome Debs.... That injury sounds painful!! You should probably rest it as much as you can (regardless of how much you want to play!) just keep moving it around easily and gently. This might be of use to you (and many other guitarists) to help strengthen and loosen up your fingers for playing. http://www.needlesports.com/acatalog/Training_Equipment.html Any of the equipment used there will be good but I use the 3rd product down (the putty) for rock climbing but it will realy aid in your guitaring also. Thats if you want to spend money of coarse. I was tempted buy some unclean replies but i held my own and gave you some proper advice

Might be a torn ligament, Best thing to do is ice it and wrap it, just the basics |

Yeah, that's what I thought. Shame I can't take the ice the nicer way - in the bottom of a glass of magners!! |

When I started playing I got a few lessons and my tutor showed me some basic finger exercises to stretch the muscles in your fingers..I always thought he was talking rubbish...I suppose he wasnt. |

It took me a month to get round the little finger thing. It is very annoying. As for the thumb, mynameisdavid is right it's probably just a popped ligament. |
