just looking for opinions. only on regular production models no boutique (ie god awefull expensive ) ones. i have both an Ibanez tube screamer and a boss sd1 super overdrive. both are decent for pushing the front end of my amp for that little extra umph. the TS seems to give a little more distrtion but the SD1 seems to have a little bit better definition for chords and leads. so whats everyone think? |

i think the TS sounds more compress, for my ears the TS "colouring" the main drive, and SD sounds more open and not really colouring your main drive... i prefer the SD rather than TS.. digitech bad monkey will be a good option.... or MXR zakk wylde overdrive ZW-44 |

Look at the Danelectro Cool Cat CTO-1, it's designed to be a booster but maintain transparency. More expensive but really warm sounding is the Mojo Hand Mule! Seymore Duncan Lava Box, again it's a booster type overdrive but very transparent! Getting expensive-ish now though. Back to slightly nicer prices "Black Star" do a boost and a distortion pedal and although I've never heard them they come highly rated through a few magazine reviews i read. I don't know how easy you could get one as they are British though. Hope that's given you some inspiration ![]() |
