So, I'm looking to mod my guitar and was wondering: How much will it cost? Are there any particular companies that d a good job? What I want doing is as follows: -Pickups replaced. (I already own the replacements, just need them fitting.) -Spraypainted metallic dark red. -Custom design engraved on the frets. Advice greatly appreciated. |

custom engraved frets? never seen that done and why bother who could see it? the pickup replacement should be reletively cheap its about $50 here in the states with guitar set up. paint job. not sure about this. my tech doesn't do that and i don't know any that do. the guitar would have to be stripped and then repainted which will run you some money and may not be worth the effort depending on th value of the guitar. |

Sorry, I should've made that clear. I mean have a custom design where the dots normally are, behind the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th frets etc. |

ok you would be talking serious money to do what you want. you would probably be better off trying to find someone to custom make the guitar. that would also cost big money. how much are you looking to spend? |

Well, a few weeks ago I had an unexpected windfall, so now I have about £2000 to spend, though obviously I'd like to pay less if possible. |

Anywhere from 250-350$, If you have 2000 E to spend wouldn't you want to get a new guitar with what you want? Edited by mynameisDavid, Sep 1 2008, 08:24 PM.

No, I already paid £300 for a custom shape on my current one, I like it, and I don't want to have to pay for that to be done again. |

ok i'd suggest that you look around to find someone that does good custom work (maybe the people who did the shape for you?). what you want is a little unusual and as i am in the US i can't really say for the UK on this type of stuff. i would think that having a custom make neck would be the way to go and then get the body painted and put it all together. |
