thought this would be an interesting topic for discussion. so here's a few ?s to give some thought to.

1- ARE YOU TOTALLY LOYAL TO ANY BRAND OF GUITARS OR RELATED EQUIPMENT

2- DO YOU HATE ANY BRAND ENOUGH TO NOT EVEN TRY ANY NEW PRODUCTS FROM THEM.

3- IF A NEW BRAND COMES ON THE MARKET DO YOU TRY IT OUT WHEN NO INFO IS AVAILABLE. (this assumes that you have access to said product and not just ordering over the net also by no info i mean no product reviews available)

ok for me

1- not really i lean towards certain brands like MARSHALL, BC RICH and BOSS but have other brands as well. so far none of them have come up with something that makes me say i'll never need a different on of those again. Marshall has come the closest though.

2- so far no but a few have come close. you couldn't pay me to even touch the low end DEAN guitars as all i've tried have been crap. i also strongly advise against FIRST ACT though i guess they make high end guitars (have yet to see one though)

3- yes, if something new is available whether i've heard of it or not i'll give it a go. i'm always looking for affordable equipment so i'm willin to try damn near anything at least once.
and now for something completely different

Good questions...

1. Yes and no, I have played Ibanez' for the last 4 or 5 years but not because I care what is on the headstock but because they are generally great guitars, excellent value for money and they look fantastic...I owned about 7 pro quality amps in my time from a Line 6 spider (folly's of youth) to my current Engl screamer...and have never used the same brand twice.

2. Not brand, although I am a complete snob in that I wouldnt buy a low-med level guitar..but is more to do with the fact that I love the feel of a nice peice of kit than hating cheaper stuff.

3. YES...my girlfriend hates me come guitar show and she avoids shopping with me in central London or anywhere there is a guitar shop...not so much because I try stuff out that I have little intention of buying because she likes watching me play and gives me her opinion (she is great for that actually) but because I subsequently get into discussions with shop staff about gear that have been known to last for over an hour...One time I was actually made a cup of tea by a shop assistant I was talking so long.

1- Well when I had my Gibson, I swore I would never get rid of it and never buy another guitar besides Gibson. Unfortunately, money issues meant I had to sell it and then I bought a Schecter! So I guess that doesn't make me very loyal? On the other hand, I am very happy with my Mesa, though I have also been looking at Orange recently. So short answer, no.

2- I think everybody here knows me enough for me to not even have to answer this one. Behringer, Line 6, Cheap Marshalls, Low Quality Guitars (Usually guitars under £500), Danelectro...... though I do try out their new things regardless of the brand, though nothing has impressed me so far, so I stick with my opinion.

3- If I saw a new product that interested me, then I would try it regardless of if I had heard of it. That's what made my buy my Schecter :)

I agree, the high end B.C Rich are fanastic quality. The rumours you may hear on certain other sites are wrong. You get what you pay for High end = high quality and low end = low quality.

Anyway, Ever tried the ML noir XT? At £500 it aint exactly low end, price wise but as far as deans go; well anyway its a fantastic guitar, absolute gem. Unfortunately the trem is.... pot luck. I made the mistake of not buying the guitar I tested, and the trem on the one i ended up with was poor. But with a bit of.... fiddling, it was converted into a fixed bridge. But anyways, trem reliant its a great axe (i never liked floyds anyway)

As for any other brand, or type, I only ever try guitars for fun, as I cant afford any new gear :$
Lol i have madde do with a £30 practise amp since i have started playing.
I have an extreme dislike for ibanez-shape guitars, they are just ugly. And have a Dean fetish. And not because of Dime.
15 years in the academy,
he was like no cadet they had ever seen,
a man so hard his veins bleed ice
when he speaks he never says it twice
the call him judge, last name Dredd
so break the law and you'll wind up dead!!!

as for DEAN's i'm only talking about the real cheap ones the $200 and under stuff. as i've metnioned i teach beginners and will help them pick a first guitar. i play alot of cheaper ones and many aren't bad at all (considering). the Deans though are just plain cheap feeling and sounding. there more expensive stuff $400-750 range isn't bad at all but to much dime and not enough diverseness. it seems like they're all slight variations on the same theme.
i really think you can find many gems in the $400-600 range that are almost as good or at times better than the $1000+ axes. i really can't justify spending that kind of money or more myself.
i have a BC RICH masterpiece series bich and its great. i played a ton of guitars before i chose it, its only $400 but beat out more expensive guitars that i tried. i know many stores only carry the cheapo bronze series which is crap. to bad since the $400-1000 range stuff is genreally very good.
and now for something completely different

Basswood body
Edge Pro bridge
Neck Pickup V7 (H)
Middle Pickup S1 (S)
Bridge Pickup V8 (H)

I don't think it's better than my Schecter at all... they are all the specs I would avoid.

Mahogany Body>Basswood Body
Original Floyd Rose>Edge Pro
EMG Pickups>Ibanez Brand Pickups

That's just my preference though and I haven't tried the Ibanez in question. Though it doesn't look like much of a competition ^o)
