Rare Fender Antigua Strat 1979

Hi,

I have had this Strat since new in 1979. It is in the rare " Antigua" finish with a maple neck. There are a couple of wear marks which are visible in the photo, but nothing major. Electrics are sound and everything is original with no replacement parts. The paint has oxidised with age, but hey, that's part of the pleasure in owning one of these!

This guitar is quite heavy for a Strat, with a low action, very easy to play.

Comes complete with original Fender flight case.

£1400 - Buyer to collect please. More pics available. E-mail dixiedeano@ntlworld.com

Pics are a bit dodgy, it hasn't got stripey strings!

nice guitar but seems a little pricey for a 79 as they aren't as desireable as the earlier ones. its a 3-bolt neck right?
and now for something completely different

Thanks for the info.

I set the price based on what I have seen them selling for elsewhere, up to £1700 and that is without the original case!

What sort of price should I be looking at do you think? I would be happy with 1k.

-3 bolt neck? It is secured by 3 bolts if that's what you mean :'(

hi dixie. yes 3 bolts is what holds the neck on. older strats and the new ones have a 4 bolt which is more stable. i checked ebay and although their were a couple of same year same color strats on their for a similar price none had any bids. when priceing off of ebay its important to see what is actually being bid on. the asking price means nothing if no one is bidding on the item. although technically a 79 would be vintage the 3 bolt guitars aren't as popular and none of the strats in and around that year had bids. this tells me that they were over priced. as for priceing i guess that depends on how much you want to sell the guitar. to move it quick put it out for L500-600 and that would make it about the same price as a new american made strat. if you can wait then perhaps L1000 would get a buyer in time.
and now for something completely different
