i take it that the fender is a little practice amp? how much is alot of money your idea and mine might not be the same B) . i'm guessing from your name that you're a metal fan. what kind of guitar are you playing? sorry for all the ?s but in order to give you a decent answer more info is needed.
and now for something completely different

i have a fender squier stratocaster but im thinking of getting a fender strat or telecaster for christmas if i have enough money and yeh the g dec amp costed 90 pound so its a little cheap starter but i would like to start getting a bit more advanced seen as i have been playing for a year now. :)

a tele.... not very metal (unless you get the john5 model but thats expensive.) i would suggest that you try out a few amps in your price range. if you like your fender but want better they have a few solid state models in that price range. you can also get several peavey amps (at the highend of your potential budget you can get a valveking -all valve ) or one of the marshall MG series amps. oh and of course line 6 amps (yeah dave we know you think they suck :X )also look at used amps as you'll be able to get a better amp for your cash. an upgrade at guitar might not be bad or you could get better pickups put inot the one you have. the mexican made strats aren't much better than the squires if you ask me (at least for the low end mexi-strats).

now what kind of sound are you trying to get? its tough to get a real metal sound out of a squire and a small practice amp. a distortion pedal might help in that dept. i usually use my strat for more classic rock type stuff myself. its great for hendrix or blackmore but not so much for modern metal. keep that in mind when getting a guitar. at the least you would need to upgrade pickups for the yngwie type stuff.

What kind of music do you play? Your budget isn't MASSIVE, but you could get a decentish amp for that. Are you looking to get a tube amp or solid state?

im not really sure as i dont know much about amps. i was thinking of getting an ibanez guitar becasue there good for metal and rock but you cant play anything soft on them. what about a epiphone 1958 explorer they look quite good. for amps i would just like one that i can get a nice clean sound for some songs and then some real good gain and tone for other song. i would like to have some good effects on it as my g dec amp only has a few affects. my mates all recomend marshall amps what do you guys think

of course you can play soft stuff on an Ibanez. if you get one that has a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil in the middle and either a single coil or humbucker at the neck. use the middle pickup for the clean stuff. alot of it has to do with your amp set up as well. any solid body electric is capable of playing any style.

i like Marshalls and have a MG100dfx myself. now many will say that its a crap amp but with some time and effort you can find some good tones with it. sure i'd rather have an all valve (tubes in the US) Marshall but i've got a house, car,kid etc to pay for so the $3000 for the one i want isn't htere  . anyways i'm pretty sure that one of the MG series Marshalls will work just fine. i use either a behringer heavy distortion or an Ibanez tube screamer to goose the front end with. the fx are ok but honestly built in amp fx are very limited and not all that useful. i only use a little delay way back in the mix for some depth. other wise i have fx pedals that give a way better sound.

its just a matter of using the clean channel of the amp with maybe a little chorus. the best way to learn is to do it yourself. experiment with the sound and you'll learn what works best for you (emphasis on YOU what works for one person may not work for another). i've been playing for almost 30 years so don't feel bad about not knowing alot ( i didn't either and there was no internet etc back then to help).
